Carl Schmitzer

Carl grew up in a small South Dakota town where everyone pitched in to get things done. Always a kid that doodled, in early school years he became an illustrator, photographer and editor for the school newspaper.

His path led to South Dakota State University with majors in graphic design and advertising. Freelance work in design, illustration and photography took him to Seattle and Minneapolis. His broad work in design, branding, marketing communications and copywriting have been recognized with awards from the American Institute of Graphic Arts and the Advertising Federation.

Clients vary from individuals and small business to Fortune 500 companies. Carl works as a freelance illustrator, designer, animator, interior designer, creative consultant and an Art Director for Xcel Energy.

Outside of work, Carl is an avid biker, art, music and food lover. He is also involved volunteering with his home association, Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross and AIGA.
